Once
again, we would like to thank everyone who came up and hunted
with us this past year. We appreciate the business and try
hard to keep you coming back. 25% of our clients were repeat
customers which is always nice. Spring Bear hunting was tough
all over the state with very little or no snowfall. They even
had to move the start of the Iditarod to Fairbanks because
of the lack of snow in Anchorage. Anyway, our 3 Spring hunters
took 2 Black Bears and 1 Brown Bear. Tom Maresca was the only
Sheep hunter this year, and he took a beautiful 39 3/4"
Ram on the second day of the season. Early September brought
us hot, dry conditions which made the bears go mostly nocturnal.
Our only Fall Brown Bear hunter missed a shot early on his
hunt, and had several close calls, but did not connect. Once
again we were 100% on Mountain Goats with 9 hunters. We have
expanded our Goat hunting country, and got into some very
nice Billies. Richard Hutchin took an 11" monster that
green scored 53 B&C points. Bryan Stave's Goat measured
9 3/4 " and should make the book after the 60 day drying
period. Jim Rolls also took a very heavy Goat that measured
9 5/8" and should be close to making book. That would
give us 30% of our Mountain Goats making the record book for
2003. As always, weather played a very big part in all the
hunts, but everyone except the bear hunters took their trophy
on or before the second day of the hunt. The Brown Bear population
continues to grow in unit 6 and it is commonplace to see sows
with three cubs. The big bears are still out there, but they
didn't get big by being stupid. Most times we will work to
get one shot at them, and if it is missed, we usually don't
see that bear again. Once again, the most important things
a client can do to assure the success of his or her hunt is
to get into good physical condition, and practice extensively
with their rifle from all positions and conditions.
Enjoy the pictures and feel free to contact us for any more
information or a reference list. Remember that it is your
investment, so check out anyone with whom you decide to book.
More than half our clients have had bad experiences when booking
with other Outfitters, so there is a huge degree of difference
in the quality of services being offered. These bad experiences
reflect poorly on the entire industry. As we stated earlier,
we work hard to provide the best service we can, and will
stand behind any claims we make.
We wish you the best of luck in all of your hunting adventures! |
