Alaska’s Lonesome Dove Outfitters
Welcomes you to Alaska 2002 Hunting Parties

First of all, I would like to thank all of the hunters who came up and hunted with us this year. With the general condition of the economy, bookings have been down from what they were a couple of years ago. Most hunters are being more careful with their spending dollars. I did have all of my slots filled except for one Dall Sheep and the early season Brown Bear/Moose. This gave me the time to do a little hunting for myself, and I shot my first Ram in 10 years and my first Moose in three. All of the clients went home with at least one trophy except for on Mountain Goat hunter whose goat managed to fall into an inaccessable gorge. This was the first time we had ever lost a Mountain Goat, and the client will be returning next year to try again. Tom Miranda from ESPN also came up in October to film a Blacktail Deer hunt, and possibly take another Brown Bear, but his hunt was plagued with some very harsh weather which made filming very difficult. Out of 11 days that we were in the field, we only had three that could be considered good hunting days. Tom did not kill a buck, and hopefully next year we can complete the show.

I had 2 Spring bear hunters, and each went away with both a Brown and a Black Bear. My only Sheep hunter killed a 36 1/2 inch, 10 year old Ram on opening day, and we once again had 100% success on Mountain Goats (except for the lost one). Mountain Goat slots are full for 2003, but I have room for one Spring bear hunter, and one Sheep hunter. There is also an early September Brown Bear combo (with a Moose or a Mountain Goat). I do all of the Sheep and Bear guiding myself, so you won't be stuck with a 19 year old "guide-in-training".

Enjoy the photos, and feel free to contact me at any time if you have any specific questions that are not answered in the web page, or would just like any information. References will by furnished upon request.
